Ballina is an attractive Far North Coast city 753 km north of Sydney. Its indigenous name, Bullenah, meant ‘place where oysters are plentiful’, an apt description still today. Sitting at the mouth of the Richmond River, it was first settled in 1840s and subsequent timber, farming & sugar industries saw it develop into the state’s 3rd busiest port at one time. Ballina is surrounded by over 30 km of swimming & surfing beaches making it a popular holiday destination. Ballina markets 3rd Sat each month. Ballina Cup (Sept).
